Colorado Roads, Friends, Family, & Memories Made
There’s something special about a road trip that reminds you how beautiful life really is — the open road, changing scenery, family milestones, unexpected laughter, and the simple joy of being together. Our recent Colorado adventure was all of that and more.
We traveled a total of 1,843 miles round trip, making memories at every stop along the way.
Our journey began with an overnight stay at Sam’s Town KOA in Las Vegas before heading north through Utah. Richfield gave us our first taste of those wide-open western skies, and then we continued on to Grand Junction, Colorado where the landscape transformed into dramatic red rock cliffs, endless valleys, and breathtaking mountain views.
Eventually we made our way to Gypsum, Colorado — the heart of our trip and the reason for the journey.
The biggest highlight was celebrating Brandi and Charlie graduating from Colorado Mountain College. Watching them reach this milestone filled us with so much pride. Seeing their hard work and dedication pay off made every mile worth it. While we were there, we also visited the beautiful Donovan Pavilion in Vail, where they’ll be getting married among the Aspen trees — another exciting chapter ahead.
We also squeezed in some fun and laughter with a lively vaudeville show in Glenwood Springs, which added a perfect touch of old-fashioned entertainment to the trip.
Of course, no road trip would be complete without Buddy. He proved once again that he is a true road dog — always ready for the next stop, the next walk, and the next adventure. Whether he was relaxing at campgrounds or taking in the scenery, Buddy was right there with us every mile of the way.
Our return trip took us through Green River State Park in Utah, where the peaceful river winding through the park made for a beautiful and relaxing stop. From there we traveled to Parowan, Utah, then back through Las Vegas before wrapping up our adventure at Bonelli Bluffs.
Ending the trip surrounded by kids and grandkids on Mother’s Day was the perfect finale. After days of highways, campgrounds, mountains, laughter, and celebrations, being together with family reminded me what these trips are really about.
So much gratitude goes to Jim for making this entire adventure so memorable. From driving the miles to sharing the experiences, this trip was filled with moments we’ll treasure for years to come.
Here’s to scenic roads, family milestones, faithful road dogs, and adventures that leave your heart full.
