Life

Life

A few months have passed since I last wrote. “Life” is definitely in session, and both Jim and I are enjoying our new life, here in Florida.
We have definitely gotten into a routine. Life after the Loop, has become comfortable. I remember how confused I was when we returned from our adventure. I wasn’t sure how I would ever be, truly happy, again! Dramatic, I know.

But, yet, here I am- Happy!

We rolled through January, looking forward to what was in store for us in 2020. Jim is still driving for Uber/Lyft, I continue to take care of Arthur in his home, and we are still enjoying our volunteer job at Spanish Point, doing boat tours for the public. Jim loves being the “Captain” of somebody else’s boat. He is seeking employment, now, as a tour boat captain. I think he’d be much happier shuttling folks around on the water. He really likes his Uber gig, but, he has so much to offer as a boat captain. Here on the gulf coast of Florida, water activities are all around us. Dolphin tours and sunset cruises are two of the things folks pay good money for. Many people aren’t fortunate enough to have their own boats. Florida also hosts the “snowbirds”, who relocate to Florida six months out of the year, to escape the harsh, cold months of winter up North. They enjoy getting out on the water and enjoying all our waterways have to offer. As I write today, Jim has had an interview and job offer as a boat captain. Unfortunately, today, the world is in the upheaval of the Clovid-19 virus. Obviously, we all are on lockdown and staying home like we’ve been advised to do. I’ll update on Jim’s new position, as the world continues to turn.

In February, we once again joined Marshall and Judy, (our looper friends), for a 5 day camping adventure. We went to Fort DeSoto Park up in St. Petersburg. We had so much fun! We relaxed, rode our bikes, went to the beach and shared some great meals. Judys sister Nita and her husband Lin, and new friends, Tammy and Mike, who also completed the Loop , joined in the fun. It was a great get away and, as always, we look forward to our next RV adventure.

We are planning on an extra long trip starting in June. My son Robert is getting married to Steph on June 27 in Kittery, Maine. Our plans are to travel there in our RV, stopping along the way, and go to the wedding. After, we are going to take another month or two trudging the road of Happy Destiny. Jim does not want to be in Florida during the very hot and humid summer that home has to offer! We have a reservation in Niagara Falls on July 4th, again, meeting up with Marshall and Judy. I’ve never been to Niagara Falls, so I’m super excited.

Jim and I have been pondering the idea of adding a pontoon boat to the Happy Destiny Fleet. Our big Happy Destiny is sitting pretty in the marina and is still for sale. We’ve had lots of lookers, but no takers as of yet. We rarely take her out, and we both are missing our time on the water. It’s not feasible to take the big boat out just to cruise the ICW. A pontoon boat would give us some freedom to explore places we can’t get to on the big Happy Destiny.
We looked at a few different pontoons and found one that is beautiful and something we could afford. So without further ado-Our new Happy Destiny Fleet Member!

So Blessed!

My daughter Aimee and her two little ones decided to make a plan to come visit us during the children’s spring break. Airline tickets purchased, plans for two days at Disney World, booked. Mid March is when the pandemic started keeping the world in their homes and social distancing became imperative. They closed Disney World and we made the decision to cancel their trip to Florida. We were all very sad, but, it was the right thing to do.
I wrote above how my son Robert and his girl Steph were planning to be married in June and a road trip for Jim and I was in our future. I had camping reservations in place in Maine and Niagara Falls. As of a few days ago, they have decided to cancel their wedding.
I’m so sad for them. Especially for Abby, Stephs mom. She of course , wanting to give her daughter the wedding of her dreams, has a lot of money invested in the wedding. I was so looking forward to meeting this nice lady. I hope she can recover some of the deposits and full payments she has already made. 🙁

Today is the 30th of March. We are staying put at home. Jim has not driven for Uber in over two weeks. We are so lucky to live here in Florida, where the weather is beautiful, we have a pool to enjoy and our pontoon boat to be able to be out on the water in the fresh air. . So many people are suffering. Two of my children have lost their employment and the other two are working from home. Jims son is also working from home. This is so crazy. Our AA meetings have closed the doors. I have found Zoom online meetings to attend, which has been a godsend. The world is coming together as we fight this horrible virus.

Please, everyone, stay safe and be well. Adventures aren’t that important in the big scheme of things. I hope that we all just do what we need to do to stay healthy. If it means staying inside our home for the long haul, that’s what we will do. Nothing is more important that the health and safety of those we love.
