The Time Has Come

The Time Has Come

It is with a bit of a heavy heart, that Jim and I announce the final chapter of our Adventure on our Happy Destiny Boat. She has been sold. 😘

When Jim and I decided to buy a little home here in Florida, the decision to sell her was unanimous. Having a home was not something that we had planned on. As you recall, the Happy Destiny was going to continue to be the place we lived after we completed America’s Great Loop. And it was. From December of 2018 to August of 2019, we called her home. We were happy and content. She is a great live aboard vessel, and I was quite proud of the fact that I lived on a boat. It’s badass! It’s minimal living at its best! We had the adventure of a lifetime, and a million memories that will last for the rest of our lives.
But, since we bought the home, with the little boat dock, and the new Happy Destiny Pontoon boat, the big Happy Destiny had to go. Owning a boat, that needs to be kept in a marina comes with a cost. We now had what is comparable to two house payments. Also, two insurance premiums, and a diver we had to pay every month to keep the bottom of the boat clean. We pretty much never went out on her, because we now had the pontoon boat that is much more compatible to cruising in our local waters. The Happy Destiny was sad, and lonely, and she deserved to be back on the water making someone else’s dreams come true. We had many people come to see her. People loved her. Thought she was beautiful and complimented us on how nicely she is appointed. We marketed her to future Loopers. The Happy Destiny is ready to do the loop again. She has all the gadgets and gizmos needed to have a successful Great Loop Journey. The problem we were up against was that the 2020 Loop season has been altered this year due to Lock closures on the Illinois River this Fall, which is when Loopers need to be traveling down the river systems to avoid the freezing weather that comes in November. Loopers have curtailed their loop plans until 2021, so the people who came to see our boat, were not quite ready to pull the trigger yet. Then, as of late, the Global Covid -19 Pandemic hit us all. Our showings of the boat dwindled down to none. Which, we understand. Who wants to buy a big ol’ boat in this type of uncertainty.

But then, came Hank and Barbara😊

An adorable couple, who just want to own a boat again. To live a dream. To make each other happy. To have a Happy Destiny of their own. To do a little cruising, and entertain their friends and family. To sit on the aft deck, clink their glasses, and find enough napkins to wipe the smiles off their faces. (By the way, Hank and Barbara) there aren’t enough!
Hank and Barbara bought the Happy Destiny, one fine day in May, and we couldn’t be happier for them. I hope they find as much joy and adventure as Jim and I found.

To Jim, Thank you. Thank you so much for choosing me to Trudge the Road to Happy Destiny with. Thank you for making a dream come true, which far surpassed, what my original dream looked like. Thank you for helping me face my fears. Thank you for teaching me how to be the first mate you deserved. Thank you for all the memories which I will hold in my heart until my last breath.
The Happy Destiny brought me so much joy and I am forever grateful for my journey with you by my side. I had the time of my life! I hope you did too.

Get some popcorn😂 this is a 13 minute video of our Adventures aboard the Happy Destiny 2018. This seriously is just a snippet of the Journey. I took thousands of pictures. You will never know the enormity of the gift Jim and I were given.
If you don’t want to spend 13 minutes watching the video above, here is a 60 second video➡️

Our adventures are not over. We will now have fun on the Happy Destiny Pontoon and we will certainly Trudge the Road in our Happy Destiny Motorhome! Stay tuned!

Peace and our love♥️
